MCB 1200 is a 12 sample low cost magnetic purification device for the extraction of nucleic acids for use in research and molecular diagnostic applications. It provides rapid and reproducible extraction of DNA, RNA, mRNA viruses, proteins and microorganisms. Combining mixing and separation in a single compact unit MCB 1200 offers breakthrough improvements in product purity and yield. The absence of fluid shear means that very large fragments of DNA can be obtained.

MCB 1200 is easy to operate via a keypad touch panel, providing various modes of mixing for the optimization of extraction protocol. The generic extraction protocol means that device can be used with most commercially available magnetic particle kits and allows easy adaptation with manual protocols. Twelve sample volumes in the range 5 – 100 µl may be used for extraction in 1.5 ml micro centrifuge tubes.

The small size of the device permits its use inside sterile hoods or cold rooms. As there is no need to shake, MCB 1200 eliminates the possible biohazard risks arising from the sample entrapment inside the caps of micro centrifuge tubes.

Under the OEM label miniMag, MCB 1200 has been successfully used in molecular diagnostics. It has been clinically validated for the extraction HIV RNA, HBV DNA, CMV mRNA, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Legionella pneumophilia RNA, Bordetella Petrusis RNA, Mycoplasma pneumoniae RNA using whole blood, plasma, serum, CSF, Throat Swabs, Sputum and stool.
